The James R. Galante
Memorial Scholarship Fund

The James R. Galante Memorial Scholarship Fund was created in April of 2022 by Lisa and James Galante to honor the memory of their son, James R. Galante, a Marblehead High School senior who played a significant role in leading the football team to win the 2021 Division 3 Super Bowl Championship at Gillette Stadium.

The James R. Galante Memorial Scholarship Fund provides annual scholarships to graduating Marblehead High School varsity athletes who are committed to continue their athletic endeavors in college. Eligible student-athletes must share James’ leadership attributes by demonstrating a motivated work ethic, fierce determination, a team-first mentality and true grit both on and off the field.

Eligibility Requirements for applicants are as follows:

  • Graduating Senior

  • Varsity student-athlete with commitment to play at an accredited college or university

  • GPA at or above 3.0

This program is administered by The James R. Galante Memorial Foundation, a local registered Massachusetts 501(c)(3). Eligibility for individual scholarships is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor, and eligible applications are reviewed by Foundation’s evaluation team. Awards are granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, age, gender, disability, or national origin.

MHS19 in conjunction with the Recruiting Board award the "Eye Test Award" in honor of James.

Tate Hoffmeister, a senior running back from Needham High who is committed to play football at Trinity next year was presented the first annual "Eye Test Award." This award, akin to James' style, highlights players who might not excel visually but perform exceptionally on the field. Congratulations and best of luck to Tate.
